60th Anniversary of the UDHR
This year, UUSC celebrates the 60th anniversary of a remarkable document that has guided and inspired our work, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
In its preamble, the UDHR affirms that all people have rights and that these rights are the "foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world."
Through the years, this vision of universal rights has given rise to countless movements for positive social change — many led by UUSC, its partners, and allies.
Join us in marking the 60th anniversary of the UDHR by upholding our shared vision of universal rights! There are many ways for YOU to get involved:
Take Action
- Celebrate Justice Sunday — On Justice Sunday, UU congregations celebrate 60 years of justice through activism and education (March 29, 2009, for most congregations).
- Take simple steps to Listen.Reflect.Act — EVERYONE can Listen. Reflect. Act. in support of human rights, for 60 seconds, 60 minutes, or 60 days!
- Give a gift — Make a special $60 UDHR commemorative gift to UUSC that makes YOU a member of UUSC.

- Youth photo contest — Enter UUSC's first-ever YOUTH Photo Contest!
- Religious Educators' Challenge — UU religious educators, UUSC challenges YOU to create an innovative lesson plan that teaches the values and enduring relevance of the UDHR!

- Listen — Attend a talk or pulpit event by UUSC President Charlie Clements about the UDHR.
