Things are going a little slow right now....Derek and I are working on the organizational part of our wind speed project. We hope to have students collecting data in the next several weeks. Dave

Basketball season is finally over and I have my 7th graders starting the unit on earth's history today!!. We will study fossils and rock and fossil dating methods in the first chapter and in the second chapter really get into geologic time and how extinctions cause distinctions within the time periods. We will discuss the possible causes of extinctions of species, one of which is climate change. Towards the end of the unit is when we will get into our research on recent climate change (Quaternary period) and cap it all of with a visit to Ashfall. So we will be starting our research soon!!

Hey Dave, you'll want to talk to Dr. Doug who is part of our community. He's a paleolimnologist- pulling climate records out of lakes but has a strong hobby/business interest in windpower.

I am currently getting my assignment sheets organized to give my students, I am going to have each group research a certain time area between now and Ashfall episode at Royal, NE...I have run into a snag. I have decided there are too many timelines out there!! I can do 4 groups, Halocene, Pleistocene, Pliocene, and Miocene. Or should I go Clarendonian, Hemphillian, (but then I get stumped, I can't find any more time divisions like this...) HELP!!!!
