‘UPCYCLED’ ART:
EMPLOYEES TRANSFORM EXCESS MATERIALS
INTO FINE ART, TO BENEFIT HUNGER TASK FORCE
Milwaukee– April 2009 - Interior Systems, Inc. (www.isiamerica.com) is opening their doors on Gallery Night for the 2nd Annual ‘Upcycled’ Showcase of artwork created by artists from ISI’s office and manufacturing facilities.
Artists have used ‘scrap’ materials from various areas of ISI production and have created unique pieces of fine art & fine craft. These art works not only showcase what can be done with ‘Upcycled’ materials, but they will also benefit residents in need.
‘Upcycling’ takes materials once considered scrap and turns them into valuable media for artwork. Instead of ‘recycling’ which requires the use of energy and resources to transform a post-industrial waste material into something else, ‘upcycling’ puts a greater value on leftover items and utilizes them in a more permanent and valued way.
Works from the show will be sold in a silent auction with all funds collected to be donated to Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee. The 2008 exhibit consisted of nearly 40 original works of art. “This is an exciting opportunity to use the talent within our company to benefit and serve the community,” said Lindsey Bovinet, President/CEO of ISI.
The ‘Upcycled’ Showcase is being held at ISI’s Corporate Headquarters, 241 N. Broadway, Suite 600 in Milwaukee, WI. The exhibit opens on Friday, April 17 from 5-9 pm with food, beverage and silent auction. There will also be a live auction for the piece awarded ‘Best In Show’.
