WORLD INTERFAITH HARMONY WEEK: 1-7 February

NEWS: WORLD INTERFAITH HARMONY WEEK: 1-7 February

World Interfaith Harmony Week was proclaimed by UN General Assembly Resolution A/65/PV.34. It was proposed in 2010 by HM King Abdullah II and HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. World Interfaith Harmony Week will fall on the first week of February of every year and aims to promote harmony among all people regardless of their faith.

World Interfaith Harmony Week seeks to spread the message of harmony and tolerance among the followers of all the world's religions, faiths and beliefs. It seeks to do this by promoting their common basis of "Love of God and Love of the Neighbor, or Love of the Good and Love of the Neighbor.” Its message invites everyone, excludes no one, and is purely voluntary.

The Committee of Religious NGOs at the United Nations supports this effort (click here for details). The RNGOs hosted an Interfaith breakfast for representatives of non-governmental organizations to the UN to honor World Interfaith Harmony Week on February 3, 2011.
