The JazzGarage Youth program seeks to fill a gap for intermediate-to-advanced young jazz players who want to perform in a jazz band.  Starting with jazz combos with eventual expansion to big band, the youth work through winter and spring to develop a repertoire for summer outdoor concerts and more.

JazzGarage meets weekly for two-hour after-school rehearsals on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 7:30 pm in eleven-week seasons.  Each season climaxes in a weekend of seasonal performances.  JazzGarage costs about $150/month with sliding fees based on family income and scholarships are available upon approval.

The program is under the direction of MusicGarage.org Founder, Steve Auerbach with JazzGarage.org Dircetor, David Halliday, a recording artist, producer, Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of Utah, Director of the Westminster College Jazz Ensemble and former member of New Orleans’ GALACTIC funk/jazz group has accepted a position as Jazz Director for the new after-school program.

Our staff have produced over 400 youth in over 200 concerts.  We've inspired young people to form bands that are doing great things, even years later.  We are experts in youth music who know that the best way to to learn to sing or play rock or jazz music is to do so with others.

FOR PRIVATE TEACHERS - Our programs are an add-on service for intermediate-to-advanced musicians that organize young musicians into bands for performances at venues, fairs and festivals statewide.

WHO CAN ENROLL - Intermediate-to-advanced musicians under 19 years who want to get on-stage with like-minded musicians. 

EXHIBITION SHOWS - Opportunities for 'exhibition' shows at music festivals, arts festivals and other special events come up all the time for MusicGarage.Org and are offered to musicians on a case-by-case basis based on positive attitude, teamwork, performance and other qualities.

'SEASONAL' PLAN - You may pay for a each season in advance for as low as $150/month using our $450 per eleven-week season plan; four seasons per year with two-week breaks between seasons with no annual contract. $175 deposit.

'PAY AS YOU GO' PLAN - Pay-As You Go enrollment with a $175 deposit* to secure a slot, $175 due at first rehearsal and $175 due by the first rehearsal of each month until then end of season.  Open enrollment; musicians can start any time with pro-rated fees. 

DEPOSIT POLICY - Deposits are applied to the last 1/3 season upon 30 days notice.  Sorry, but if you do not give us 30 notice, you forfeit your deposit.

SIBLING DISCOUNT - A $75/season per additional family member discount is available. 

SLIDING FEE SCALE - We have a sliding fee scale based on income.

SCHOLARSHIP - We offer scholarships for families enrolled in Title I public school 'school lunch' programs.
