Dr. Michael Buchwitz graduated in physics at the University of Bremen in 1992. Since 1993 he is working as research scientist at the Institute of Environmental Physics / Remote Sensing (iup/ife) at the University of Bremen, Germany, except for one year where he was employed at a software company. He participated at the specification of the SCIAMACHY satellite instrument onboard ENVISAT and was scientific secretary of the GOME/ERS-2 Science Advisory Committee. In 2000 he finished his PhD on atmospheric radiative transfer and satellite retrieval algorithms. Currently, he is leading the SCIAMACHY near-infrared retrieval group at iup/ife and is responsible for the greenhouse gas and carbon monoxide scientific data products. Dr. Buchwitz has published more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has participated in various national, European and international research projects.
