Biography:
Jean Arnold resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she enjoys a full-time career as an artist. She earned her MFA in Painting from Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont in 1999. Ms. Arnold has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows, regionally and nationally. In spring of 2008, she held a a solo exhibition at the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana. Her work is found in numerous public, corporate, and private collections across the country. In 2002, Arnold was recipient of the Utah Arts Council Visual Arts Fellowship Award.
In her art, Jean explores urban mobility by riding around on buses, sketching the urban landscape as it flows by. These explorations helped her appreciate the tremendous amount of energy required to haul people and goods all over the planet. Upon learning about Peak Oil, it quickly became a fascination for her – resulting in the co-founding of an activist group, Post Carbon Salt Lake. She has given presentations on energy issues to numerous groups and public policy-makers, including Mayors Becker and Coroon, as well as several Salt Lake City Council members
