About Us & Contact
The Livelihoods sector at Save the Children is focused on creating a foundation of financial and food security for families in the developing world.
We assist families with financial security through:
· Microfinance - loans and equity investments for small businesses
· Microinsurance - life, health, and disability insurance and property, crop, and livestock insurance
· Microsavings - savings accounts provide a cushion during downturns and emergencies
· Employment - training and counseling for job readiness and availability
Food security is achieved through:
· Agricultural assistance - training for planting, growing, harvesting and selling crops
· Delivery of emergency food supplies - caused by droughts, disasters and other emergencies
The Livelihoods Leadership Council supports and promotes the work of the Livelihoods Department in three areas:
· Education -we educate friends, associates and the public through personal contacts, the media, and in public and private presentations
· Advocacy -we help bring attention to Livelihoods issues to legislators, interest groups and potential funders
Funding -we support Livelihoods Department projects financially by our donations and/or fundraising efforts. (PDF)
