It saddens me to read the reactions to this stunt. Anyone who has campaigned for a good cause can attest to the difficulty of gaining media attention. Whether or not you believe challenging the oilsands industry is a good cause, one must acknowledge that getting people to listen is a hard job with a simple please and thank you. The participants of this action have not hurt anyone or set anything on fire. Rather, at great personal sacrifice they hung a message high on the Calgary skyline and were successful at attracting cameras and conversation.

If the group involved was not Greenpeace and the message did not challenge an industry with a lot of money sunk in our pockets, I have no doubt the response would be much more positive.

Also, to suggest that participation in this stunt and/or association with Greenpeace means that a person:

a) does not have a job;

b) does not contribute to society;

c) is a raging lunatic;

d) deserves to die a gruesome death;

...displays bigotry and immaturity that we Canadians like to pride ourselves in rejecting. It is disappointing to see this comment board rife with such statements.
