Without a Home           by Rick DeAngelo    2008

Everyday I wake up to this room full of fear.

This house is cold and dreadful and there’s no one here.

So I leave because this place feels just like a cage.

But I find life in the street so swallowed by rage.

There’s children without a home

It hurts so much to be alone

Please Mama sing me a song

Why’s Daddy been gone so long.

When I come back to this dark and empty place.

It’s my family I want to see but there’s not a trace.

My only friend in here is the big T.V.

It likes to tell me just who I should grow to be.

There’s children without a home.

It hurts so much to be alone.

Please Mama sing me a song.

Why’s Father been gone so long.

We want to feel loved. We want to feel loved.

We need your love, we need your love. Love we need your love.

I try to turn to you for truth and advice.

But the only thing I see is confusion in your eyes.

Why do you also seem to want to hurt me.

I am so young and helpless, can’t you see?

There’s children without a home.

It hurts so much to be alone.

Please Mama sing me a song.

Why’s Daddy been gone so long.

When will you ask us and give us a choice.

It seems so hard for you to just hear our voice.

So you grownups would you please give this to us.

Love and attention is the one thing we can trust.

Chorus

We want to feel loved. We want to feel loved.

We need your love we need your love. Love we need your love.
