Help Pump Water: PlayPumps Int.
| Topics: | |
Last year, PlayPumps International raised enough money to fund 100 PlayPump® water systems within 100 days. With the support of individuals, schools, businesses and community organizations PlayPump exceeded their goal and today hundreds of thousands of people are reaping the benefits in southern Africa.
THE NEED
On World Water Day we were reminded of the sobering reality of the global water crisis which affects one out of three people. While significant advances have been made thus far, most countries are not on track to achieve the Millennium Development Goal for water and sanitation.
That is why we decided to launch a second spin of "100 Pumps in 100 Days" on March 22nd. The obvious goal is to raise enough funds to donate 100 PlayPump systems to schools and communities--providing clean drinking water to approximately 250,000 people in sub-Saharan Africa.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The average American would be shocked to know that more than 1.1 billion people around the world do not have access to clean drinking water, that every 15 seconds a child dies of a water-related illness, that 50 percent of the developing world’s schools have no access to safe water, or that African women and girls walk an average of five miles to get water from often polluted sources.
The PlayPump water system can change that. Please lend your support and make your gift of clean water today. Your contribution will help us reach the goal of funding one pump a day. This means for every day we run this campaign, one more school will have access to clean water.
You can also download our Action Kit and find out how you can encourage your friends, family, or group members to participate in this effort. You can spread the word by visiting our online social networks or by forwarding this message to a friend or colleague.
Let’s make a commitment over the next 95 days to make a life changing difference in people’s lives.
