Agro-Forestry: SAFE: Sustainable Alternative Farming Experience

SAFE, a project sponsored by  the ManyHands Community provides a place in local communities where people may participate hands on in planting of trees and growing of gardens that demonstrate ecologically self-sustainable techniques or practices.

SAFE includes a focus on the Paulownia Tree as a Global Warming Solution, inter-cropper, phyto-remediator, and nitrogen fixing tree which makes this project unique.

The mission of SAFE is to educate, demonstrate, and integrate for the purposes of adopting alternative solutions to nonrenewable energy resources.  We achieve our mission by:

1)    Educating by providing local hand-on educational opportunities;

 2)   Demonstrating self-sustainable and ecologically sensitive farming and Agro-forestry practices, with emphasis on the miraculous Paulownia Tree; and

3)    Integrating by sharing best practices with partners using the SAFE Internet Website on Trunity, at PeaceWebsite.mobi, and other Internet Platforms.

Method: Provide a place in local communities where people may participate hands on while learning about planting trees, perma-culture, and integration of other sustainable practices (clean energy, alternative dwellings, etc...) associated with sustainable lifestyles. Image

Requirements to start a SAFE in your community: A passion to spend time with others working with the Earth.  SAFE projects can take place in a small garden or be as large as many hundreds of acres, it all depends on the level of involvement in any given community.  Ideally a SAFE project would have a minimum of 2 acres available, with one acre going to community gardening spaces and the other acre being a holistic project where such things as a greenhouse, yurt, solar-panels or wind generators might be placed; while these are excellent additions to any SAFE location, nothing other than passion and a place is required.

SAFE projects that wish to utilize the Paulownia Tree (our miracle and featured solutions tree) will be provided with help from the SAFE Staff.   Lastly, an administrative team has been assembled to write thank you letters, collect, and disburse funds originating from donations, grants, and other sources whom wish to support a local SAFE project.

Background & History: SAFE is component of a larger global reforestation project alliance between P3 (Plan-it, Plant-it, Planet) and the PRP  (Paulownia Reforestation Project.)  The Original SAFE Project was started in 1999 in St. George Utah by Padre Alfredo Jaramillo of Sipapu Missionary Ministry, Dave Saunders, and Minister Stephen Fantl based on research provided by many people, most notable Tim Hall and Denny Beeson.  From Utah, Jeff "Skyler" Farr took root starts to Kauai, Hawaii and began a nursery, test plot, and local SAFE, which is now the global headquarters and silviculture nursery for all SAFE projects, P3, and PRP.

All Donations are Tax-Deductible!  Help us build a SAFE, or build locally in your community.  You too can collect tax-deductible donations so tax dollars are used to grow more Trees and provide more sustainability in your community.

What a SAFE Can Do: Provide a place where people may participate hands on while learning about planting trees, permaculture, and integration of other sustainable practices such as clean energy, alternative dwellings, and up-cycling.  Additionally the Paulownia Trees we grow clean our air, beautify the environment, and provide a local source for Paulownia root starts.
