S.A.F.E.
Kauai
Sustainable Agro-Forestry Experience
Who We Are:
S.A.F.E is component of a larger non profit global reforestation project
(Plan-it, Plant-it, Planet) Locally supported by The Eloha Foundation
The Original S.A.F.E Project started in 1999 in St. George Utah. From Utah, Jeff "Skyler" Farr took root starts to Kauai Hawaii and began a nursery, which is now a global headquarters for all S.A.F.E projects, for P3.
Worldwide Developers Foundation is the international financial facilitator for accommodating interested people who wish to make large donations through a registered international tax-exempt foundation for international projects.. All other investment plans are Taylor on interest and needs individually
Our Mission:
The mission of S.A.F.E. KAUAI Is to establish an educational nursery on Kauai that will demonstrate and promote Agro-forestry and propagation of paulownia fortunei trees as a ground breaking response to environmental emergencies bio fuels, sustainable lumber, soil-remediation Localy and internationaly
Our Objective:
To promote the viability and environmental benefits of paulownia propagation for:
-
Industrial lumber production, using the world's fastest growing timber. Produces 2-4 times as much lumber as other commercial trees in the same growth period. Grows back 5-6 times after it is harvested. This eliminates post-harvest clearing as well as expenses for land preparation and re-planting.
-
Reducing air pollution, particularly Co2 emissions. The giant leaves of paulownia are the most efficient means of scrubbing greenhouse gases and air pollutants from the atmosphere, converting carbon dioxide into wood mass, and exchanging high levels of oxygen.
-
Soil remediation, as a means of absorbing chemical contaminants and waste water, regenerating barren farmland, and stabilizing soil erosion.
-
Reforestation projects, ideal as as a non-invasive species with a rapid growth rate, low maintenance, and can be grown with other tree species.
-
Organic food production, acts as an organic nitrogen fixer, ideal for
inter-cropping to increase crop production.
-
Ornamental application (sought after as a flowering, highly adaptive, and fast growing tree).
Project Summary:
The S.A.F.E. Nursery on Kauai will utilize prime agricultural land and growing conditions to create a premier paulownia nursery. In the midst of growing media attention surrounding paulownia, S.A.F.E. will provide a desirable location for prospective growers and green investors to receive educational materials, and on sight training for paulownia propagation. This is to be accomplished by:
-
Maintaining an 8 acre paulownia plantation, including some inter-cropping of organic crop production.
-
Providing educational materials
