One major reason that the democratic program (like in software) is crashing in America is because of the enhanced propaganda techniques used by the nation's moneyed elite.  The last 8 years demonstrated that the shock and awe of a manipulated media could deliver the worst policies possible.  The Fox cable network is the poster child of pure propaganda manipulation.  It takes two major forms:  First diverting an ignorant public onto secondary matters (gay marriage for instance) while also continually asserting half truths and downright lies.  At the same time, it seduces its viewers into identifying themselves with a media elite that has no common interest with its viewers.  In reality, the viewers are manipulated sheep being led to the slaughter.
