Dear Gerald, one reason the Montana Sanctuary focuses on Plato is to separate us definitively from any other survivalist group.  By having a philosophical foundation, we are able to pursue a uniquely humanistic mission.  It is not enough to just survive; one must work for the betterment of mankind.  In this regard, all established members of the Sanctuary share the "Guardian" responsibility - not only toward mankind but to the entire biosphere.  

In regards to Plato and his philosophy, it is merely a foundation for a coherent modern day society- not some sort of dogma or religion.  We hold Darwin and Francis Bacon in equally high regard - Bacon particularly for his monumental Novum Organum.  In regards to the supremacist thinking of some survivalists, they are based neither on science nor well developed principles of moral philosophy.  Modern science even invalidates the concept of distinct races thus completely undercutting any half-baked supremacist concepts.
