My passion for Mother Earth has inspired me to envision a world of peace and harmony. To achieve my vision I must help teach the world's children about the environment. In doing so I have written and illustrated a children's book about rainforest destruction and what might possibly happen on earth if we do not do something about it now. I hope to touch the hearts of children around the world and teach them how to take care of our earth and make it a better place to live. When children understand what to recycle, how to conserve water and energy, and things that can be reused then they can continue to teach others the same. Also, serving as the Junior Advisor for the Board of Directors of the Pax Natura (Peace with Nature) Foundation, my goal is to raise money to help with reforesting the rainforests, preserving the icebergs, and saving endangered species. If children of all ages understand how we effect changes that occur and were to help with the problems today, such as the tragedy of global warming, there will be fewer problems in the future and all of our children will be able to see the beauties of Mother Earth and the precious things that she has provided us with. I feel that children should be allowed to contribute in taking care of our earth and making it a better place to live, for the future belongs to us.

I sent this essay to a contest with the Salt Lake Tribune called the Im Green contest. The essay can only be 250 words or less. I wrote about what I was doing to be green.

Daily things to do to help our environment;
- recycle (look for the recycle symbol)
- conserve water by; not running the water while brushing teeth,
washing your hands or doing the dishes, taking 5 minute showers, not
flushing the toilet after every use or offsetting the water in the tank,
use leftover water in cups to water your plants, fixing leaky faucets
- conserve energy by shutting off lights, usings energy wise light bulbs,
shutting off or even unplugging electronic equipment when not in use
- ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation instead of driving a car
- look for energy star appliances and gadgets
- plant a garden and make your own organic compost
- reuse products when you can
- do not litter
- protect all special places by respecting the land, water, air, and rules if
in National Parks
- teach others about the importance of protecting our natural habitats
- plant trees

These are things that I think we all could learn from.
