According to the Dalai Lama the most critical issues facing humanity in the 21st Century are related to the environment. Indeed, now faced with climate change and food security concerns resulting from our increasing use of oil and gas and raising gas prices, the future or our environmental and the human race, itself, is in question.
The Center for Human Rights Evolution focuses on our relationship with Earth as a core element in humanity’s spiritual quest. According to the Unitarian Universalists, Nature provides a “Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder . . . which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openess to the forces which create and uphold life” and that Earth-centered traditions “instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.”To this end, CHE retains a deep commitment to the quest for justice and we understand that caring for the Earth and all of its inhabitants is a critical ingredient in building true justice.
CHE believes that in order to protection our environment and to survive as a species, we must evolve consciously. Albert Einstein once said that “Problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them.” For this reason, we need to bring the conversation about our relationship with and our responsibilities toward Earth into the heart of the spiritual relm. A different level of awareness-a spiritual awareness-is critical.
The new environmental human rights movement must, therefore, employ a strategy of what Eckert Tollie refers to as “awakened doing” which is to “become one with the outgoing purpose of the universe and allow consciousness to flow through you into this world.”
The Center for Human Evolution, therefore, employs the “visioning” process in all of our major decision making. The process employs the principles of meditation and staying present while making significant decisions and is based on the principle that the only way the human race can achieve a reversal of our priorities is when the main purpose for doing what you do becomes the doing itself. All truly successful action comes out of that field of alert attention, rather than from ego and conditioned, unconscious thinking.
