Mapping the Parks of North Berkeley

Mapping the Parks of North Berkeley

There are about one dozen official City of Berkeley parks in North Berkeley.  The are also dozens of small pockets of grass and trees and rocks between properties, particularly in the hills, that can be considered parks.

This articles intentions are to create a growing survey of parks and their terrain and characteristics.

We will start with Cragmont Rock Park

This rocky outcrop on a high vantage point almost directly due East of Solano avenue, commands a towering view of the bay and the Golden Gate.  Yet it also contains a nice level playing field and grassy area, and also quiet sheltered tree covered walking paths.  The stone walls look to be the work of WPA craftman, and the gazebo viewing pavillion is an elegant piece of eclectic early century architecture.
