Be The Difference: 3. Using This Site

Be the Difference is an online expression of community. Our goal is to foster not only the sharing of information, but also the creation of virtual and physical communities. We are therefore interested in knowing what you are doing in your home and your community to encourage sustainable living. We invite you to share your stories.

Our site is divided into the following sections.

ARTICLES. Here you'll find contributions written by Be the Difference members on subjects of relevance to sustainability. These are generally longer thematic treatments such as Conserving Energy or First Steps in Organic Gardening. ARTICLES is our primary information resource. Readers can comment at any length on any article, but we want to keep this commentary, like the articles, focused on sharing essential knowledge.

BLOG. Here you'll find free-ranging commentary by Be the Difference members. BLOG is our equivalent of a newspaper's opinion page, and we welcome all kinds of opinion, including those that may challenge our own beliefs. The only rule for the BLOG is that you be respectful of other contributors.

NEWS. Pretty self-explanatory. We particularly welcome news about what's happening in the Be the Difference community, but posts about general news of relevance to sustainability is welcome

LINKS. This is our jumping off page to other online resources. Subjects are organized by category and subcategory. In selecting sites, we've focused on bringing together the best of what's out there on the web. If you think we've missed something, let us know. Wherever possible, we've first listed resources local to Utah's Wasatch Front, but we include national sites as well.

This is your resource. So please let us know what you  think of the site. We're especially interested in ways that it can be improved. Above all, CONTRIBUTE to the site.

CONTRIBUTING TO THE SITE

We welcome contributions of any kind from any visitor to the site. There are several ways to contribute.

  1. Any Trunity member can post comments on any of the information on the site.
  2. Members of the Trunity network may also become Contributors of original blog postings, articles, news, etc.
  3. From time to time, we'll invite our best Contributors to join us as Publishers of the site.

If you're interested in becoming a regular Contributor, or if you're not a regular Contributor but would like to submit something anyway, contact Ed Firmage.

ArticlesBlogs, and News items can be of any length on any topic related to sustainability but should be focused on well-documented information or the sharing of actual experience. Contributions may be formatted in any of the following: Microsoft Word for Windows or Mac, Pages for Mac, HTML. Acceptable graphic formats include JPEG or GIF files. Links to YouTube videos are also possible.

Although we accept blog contributions of any length, we recommend that you keep them relatively short (200-600 words). The longer the piece, the more appropriate it may be for an article.
